About Pavai
The Pavai brand was born from the dreams of women who carry generations of knowledge about herbs, traditional foods, and natural healing practices.
these women received training to transform their cultural knowledge into a sustainable source of income. Pavai is the livelihood and production unit of ASSCOD initiated with the generous support of Omega Healthcare (OFSI). The primary purpose of this initiative is to empower women living in poverty by creating meaningful income-generation opportunities.
About ASSCOD
Association for Sustainable Community Development is a non-profit voluntary
organisation operating in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu.
Our organisation helps in promoting and developing the socio-economic conditions of people in rural communities. Initially, our priority was to provide healthcare facilities to people living in remote areas, then we shifted our focus to Empowering Rural Women, as they were subjected to gender inequality, domestic violence, and no access to livelihood opportunities. We as an organisation believe that empowered women play a crucial role in the community's development, so our programmes are targeted towards capacity building of women. Our activities also extend to providing educational acilities for children from underprivileged communities. Our interventions are executed in 65 villages of Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Thiruvanamalai districts.
About OFSI
Omega Forum for Social Impact (OFSI), formerly Omega Healthcare’s CSR arm, was established in 2023 as a dedicated foundation with the mission to drive transformative change in underserved communities.
OSFI's focus is on healthcare, women’s empowerment, and skilling, with a strong commitment to grassroots interventions that deliver sustainable impact. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), OSFI's work reflects a comprehensive approach to addressing social challenges in marginalised regions. Launched in 2015, Omega Healthcare’s CSR programme initially supported local healthcare and education projects. Over time, it broadened its scope to include women’s empowerment and livelihood programmes, reaching tens of thousands of beneficiaries. The evolution into OSFI marked a shift towards a more strategic focus on co-creation and collaboration with grassroots organisations, ensuring that its initiatives are tailored to the specific needs of rural and tribal communities in
India.
